How it all started
The journey of a National Whiner’s Day began with a single moment of inspiration while working with a coworker in a fast-food restaurant in Flint, Michigan. Every time she was asked to perform a specific task, like making French fries, she would whine in a high-pitched voice! She freely acknowledged doing so with laughter. she was told, tongue-n-cheek, someday someone would create a day for whiners. She loved it!
Our story
Every great journey begins with a story. This is no different. Established in 1986 By Kevin Zaborney (now in Caro, Michigan), National Whiner’s Day was first conceptualized then observed. First published in “Chase’s Calendar of Annual Events” before various USA and Canadian news outlets picked it up. Clearly there are far too many whiners and far too few huggers. As a result, National Hugging Day (January 21) was also established now with global recognition!
Most Famous Whiners of 2024
Paige Bueckers: University of Connecticut women’s basketball player. According to her own coach, Geno Auriemma, “Paige is the biggest whiner in America because she feels she doesn’t get the calls that she deserves.”
Ingo Rademacher: Former General Hospital actor “Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks.” Ingo recently renewed a lawsuit against ABC challenging his termination in 2021 due to his non-compliance with the company’s Covid-19 vaccination mandate.

“Laugh at yourself and at life. Not in the spirit of derision or whining self-pity, but as a remedy, a miracle drug, that will ease your pain, cure your depression, and help you to put in perspective that seemingly terrible defeat… Never take yourself too seriously.”
